[ REPUBLIC ACT NO. 3059, June 17, 1961 ]
AN ACT APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF THIRTY THOUSAND PESOS FOR THE UPKEEP AND MAINTENANCE OF THE CLARO M. RECTO LIBRARY AND MUSEUM IN HIS RESIDENCE AT LEVERIZA STREET IN PASAY CITY.
WHEREAS, the demise of Don Claro M. Recto, the paladin of modern Filipino nationalism, the Great Dissenter, an uncompromising patriot and statesman, and a towering figure in law and in letters, has created a vast vacuum which, presently, hardly anyone in our generation can fill;
WHEREAS, the aforementioned valuable donation would certainly ignite the hearts and minds of the present and future generations to emulate Don Claro's exemplary life and fruitful labors to his country and people: Now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in Congress assembled:
SECTION 1. The sum of thirty thousand pesos is hereby appropriated, out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to be used by the "Claro M. Recto Memorial Foundation, Inc." for the upkeep and maintenance of the "Recto Library and Museum" for the fiscal year ending June thirty, nineteen hundred sixty-two. Thereafter, the necessary sum for its upkeep and maintenance shall be included in the annual General Appropriation Acts.
SEC. 2. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
