It is settled that, because of its opportunity to observe the facial expressions, gestures, and tone of voice of a witness who is testifying, the trial court's evaluation of the testimony of a witness is entitled to great respect.[31] The proximate contact of the trial court with those who take the witness stand places it in a more competent position to discriminate between a true and false testimony.[32] In this case, accused-appellant failed to show that the trial court erred in giving weight to the testimony of the prosecution's witness. | |||||
