In criminal cases, the guilt of the accused must be proved by the prosecution beyond reasonable doubt on the strength of its evidence.[14] Conviction of the accused must rest not on the weakness of the defense but on the strength of the prosecution's evidence;[15] otherwise, the accused is entitled to an acquittal.
